Spring Break Fun!

We had an incredible day yesterday. Not only did we celebrate a birthday in our family but it was also the 4 year anniversary of our very first foster kid placement and the 3 year anniversary of finding out that our son James could join our family!

We took all the kids hiking through Silver Creek Falls. It was raining off and on but we had a great time. They loved holding their umbrellas and as much as we tried to help them hop over some big puddles most of them enjoyed splashing right through them. :)

Earlier in the day, we had an appointment for horse lessons, for my sweet Mia. She LOVES horses so much. She has never been on a full size horse, just the miniature horses at the fair. Mia had been counting down the days until this horse lesson and then the morning of became nervous. I could see it on her face, she was worried she would be scared. After we walked into the barn I saw nothing but smiles on her face. She sat tall on her horse and enjoyed every second of it.

Both Mia and Laura had an hour long horse riding lesson and because we were heading straight from there to Silver Creek Falls we had all the kids with us. The owners were great and let each of the kids sit on the horses and also let them take turns brushing the horses.

We were able do to yard work and outdoor fun the first few days....and then it rained. I am actually thankful for the rain because just before it started we were able to put grass seed down to fill some patches in our lawn.

I was also able to have some fun girl time with my daughters. We snuck upstairs into my bathroom and had our very own nail painting party. Complete with fun music and chatting about girl things. This was the first time that some of them painted their own nails or helped each other. I got to hear their thoughts about how they love Jesus and what they loved about each other. They love each other because they are fun, silly, and help each other solve problems. My heart melted.

We can often get busy with obligations and work hard but it is so great to take time to play hard and have fun.
